What I’m Packing In My Carry-On Bag

We leave for the bahamas in approximately 2 weeks! This will be our first real vacation just the two of us since our honeymoon to Hawaii in 2017. Needless to say I am over the moon excited for time away just the two of us. Here is what I’m taking in my Carry-On Bag.

Even though I am not a huge traveler, I have spent the last few months trying to plan and be conscious of what I need to pack for this vacation. This vacation is all about relaxation and getting time away just my husband and I. I’ve done a lot of research on what to pack when traveling to the Bahamas, and these are some essentials I’m packing in my Carry-On Bag

A bathing suit

I have a huge fear of my luggage being lost for this trip. I’m anticipating a ton of time being spent at the pool/beach, so I need to make sure I have a swimsuit available just in case my luggage gets lost. Although I have purchased quite a few bating suites for this trip, if worse comes to worse, wearing the same bathing suit every day is better than having none at all.

Necessary electronics and entertainment

Portable chargers, headphones and a tablet for entertainment is crucial for longer flights. Luckily, our flights to The Bahamas are pretty short, but I will still be bringing headphones and my kindle in case I can’t fall asleep on the flight. It’s never fun to be stuck on a runway with a delay with nothing to do or a dead cell phone. Electronic entertainment are necessary items to pack in your carry-on bag.

Prescriptions and Daily medications

I have about 3 prescription medications that I have to take daily. This is something I definitely don’t want to be without if my luggage were to get lost. Along with prescription medications, necessary medications I think can be beneficial include ibuprofen, tums, pepto, etc.

24 hour stock of everything you need

In case of delays, I think it’s important to have everything you would need to make it through 24 hours without your checked bags. This icludes, deodorant, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc. You can find these TSA approved items Target, Walmart, CVS, etc.

Change of Clothes / Pair of Shoes

Along with a bathing suit, an extra pair of clothes is absolutely essential to have in case of a lost checked bag. An extra pair of underwear, a shirt, shorts and shoes just in case you find yourself without your bags. You can always wash and re-wear your two outfits if absolutely necessary.

Sunscreen

If you are vacationing to a tropical destination, then make sure you are prioritizing sunscreen. Although sunscreen is probably going to be available for purchase at your resort, you may feel the need to apply it immediately after stepping out into the sun. From what I hear, the sun below the equator is no joke!

Travel Wallet

An absolute essential if you are traveling with a passport. You will need to have your passport and other documents readily available at any moment when traveling. Instead of having to search through your carry-on bag, using a travel wallet will be your life savor (this is the one I purchased)
