Reminders To Give Yourself When You Are Struggling

When I first wrote this blog post, I had it in my archives with a very different title. I decided the original title might be a bit too depressing, and it may reveal a few things about myself that I’m simply not ready to talk about on my blog. Here are some reminders to give yourself when you are struggling.

This post is meant for the person who is looking for the emotional support that they no longer have.
When you don’t have that support system around.
If you are missing your mom, dad, sibling, or biggest supporter.
To the person who feels alone.

These are things I want you to tell yourself and always remind yourself when things are feeling a little too heavy. I know my mom would tell me all of these things whenever I would find myself struggling. If I picked up the phone and called my mom for advice, these are the things she would tell me.

When you are going through a hardship and just need someone to tell you something positive to get you going, this is for YOU, from ME.

Tell Yourself:

  • Make sure you’re eating and getting enough sleep
  • Cry it out
  • You are stronger than you think
  • Forgive yourself
  • Practice patience
  • Worry about yourself, and no one else.
  • Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
  • Life isn’t fair – but keep going forward
  • Personality will always win
  • Get back up, dust yourself off and try again.
  • You are lovable. You are a good person, and you deserve everything you’ve ever wanted
  • Take a break, you are working yourself too hard.
  • Trust your decisions, and trust that you are human and you will make mistakes
  • It is more than okay to change your mind
  • Set some boundaries and start practicing them
  • Learn from your past, but don’t stay there
  • Always stay grounded

Other Words Of Affirmations

When searching the web for positive affirmations to go along with this blog post, here are some of my favorites that I found.

Why Words of Affirmations Are Important

Positive affirmations are really something I have been practicing on a daily basis since starting therapy. It really is so easy to be hard on yourself and think that you are failing at absolutely everything. When you have no one else to tell you something positive, I hope this list can provide you with some reassurance that everything is going to be okay and you are doing everything right.
