I’ve talked about my wedding a few times on my blog. There is absolutely nothing I would change about the wedding day that I had. But as you get older and you start to celebrate your wedding anniversaries, sometimes you begin to think about all the things you would do differently if you had a do-over. Not to say my wedding wasn’t perfect for me, but here is My Advice To The Bride-To-Be.
Pinterest has some awesome ideas for planning a wedding. If you are looking for a theme, color schemes or even table decorations, Pinterest is the place to look. And although Pinterest has some of the best inspiration, it’s not going to be your reality. As a bride-to-be, know that Pinterest isn’t your reality.
I definitely skipped out on family members when it came to sending out invitations. My parents tried to push me into inviting every single family member to my wedding day, and although I did allow more than originally anticipated, I definitely put my foot down. This day is about you. Invite those people who YOU want to share this special day with you.
As much as we all want that picture perfect wedding day, it’s important to understand that this celebration is about the marriage, and not the pinterest-worthy table decorations. It’s easy to get caught up in planning the special day you’ve always wanted while forgetting about the purpose of the celebration. You are marrying your best friend and the day should be focused on that alone.
It’s okay to want to be a good host during your wedding day. You probably are seeing friends and family you haven’t seen in years. But please, go sit down, eat your cake, and hit the dance floor. Your wedding day shouldn’t be focused around chatting with relatives you haven’t seen in a long time. It’s okay to stop socializing after a certain amount of time. Take in the moment because this is a once in a lifetime event.
Planning weddings can be super stressful. And as much as I told myself I wouldn’t stress myself out, I did. And I think we all do. But this day is all about having fun. No matter how hard you plan to have the perfect day, I promise you, something is going to go wrong. And it’s probably going to be out of your control. Just HAVE FUN and enjoy this moment.
