Month In Review – August/September

The end of August and the entire month of September was a wild ride. September was a busy month to say the least, and I want to start doing a monthly update (whenever I can), so I figured I would start out strong with the busiest month(s) of 2020. I’m going to combine the end of August, September and the beginning of October as this is when so many things took place.

Looking back to where I was in January, I never thought I would be where I’m at in 2020.

After having a baby in February we were overwhelmed to say the least once COVID-19 hit. We realized pretty quickly that being so far away from family was something we didn’t want to do after having a new baby. We wanted to be closer to family and have the help/support close by if we ever needed it.  One day I joked around with my husband about moving back to Cincinnati, and to my surprise my husband was 100% on board. Once our decision was made, we started the moving process pretty quickly.

As much excitement I was experiencing with being more than ready to return home, I really wasn’t looking forward to leaving my job. When I tell you I have the best job in the world, I REALLY DO HAVE THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD. And I worked with some of the best people in the world.  I definitely didn’t think my last day at work was going to be as hard as it was.  It’s definitely crazy how quickly my emotions hit me, because that entire week I thought I was more than ready for my new adventure, and I definitely didn’t expect to cry as much as I did. I guess that’s what happens when you have a career you love and when your co-workers feel like family.

WIthout going into too many details (because this blog post is already long enough), finding a house in another state is HARD (10/10 do not recommend, lol).  When we moved to Ohio we moved in with my parents for a little over a month, and I can’t even begin to explain how excited I was when I heard our offer was accepted on our new house, because I was more than ready to get out of my parents house lol.

After hearing the good news about our new home, I decided the month of September wasn’t stressful enough, so I made the decision to add a knee injury to the list. Now when I tell you this was one of the most painful things I have ever experienced in my life, it WAS ONE OF THE MOST PAINFUL THINGS I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE.  While out running one day, my knee decided to twist one way while my body wanted to go another. I  was on crutches for a week, and wasn’t able to walk fully for almost 2 weeks. After getting x rays that were negative I was referred to get an MRI after still dealing with a significant amount of knee pain. The doctor said my injury was very “uncommon” the way that it happened and wanted to rule out any meniscus involvement. Luckily, I was finally told that I hyperextended my knee and that surgery was not required, but because of the significant bruising and swelling it could potentially take a few months to get full range of motion and use of my knee.  Now, if you know me at all, you know how frustrating this makes me.  I love to be active and workout, and the timing of this injury was not the best.  Nothing makes you more humble than when you have an injury because you truly realize the little things you take for granted (I have never in my life been more thankful to work in rehabilitation because I knew exactly how to do daily tasks with the limitations I had, lol).

After icing my knee for what seemed like HOURS every single day, I gradually began to put weight through my leg and have gained 90% of my range of motion back, however I plan to go to physical therapy for the next 5 weeks in the hopes to regain some strength and range of motion back in me knee.

After what seemed like forever living at my parents home with 4 adults, 1 baby and 2 dogs, we finally closed on our new home in the beginning of October.  I am so excited to make new memories with my family in this home, as it has everything I want and I think it is going to be perfect for us.

Overall, these last few months have seemed so long, but at the same time it all has happened so quick.  I am absolutely IN LOVE with our new house and our new neighborhood, and I can’t wait to see our family grow in this house. Our dogs are loving the huge backyard and I can’t want to play soccer with Braden when he gets older.

Braden has started teething and is interested in all sorts of things – as long as he is able to put things in his mouth, lol.  He does not like the texture of grass but loves all the carpet in our new house.  He is starting to get the urge to crawl, however he hasn’t quite figured out the motion yet. We’re still struggling at times with his early morning wakings, but overall he is such a happy baby and I truly can’t believe that he is already 8 months old (I’ve been planning his 1st birthday since he’s been about a month old, lol).

I hope to be able to take some time out at the end of each month to look back on all the things we did and all the new things Braden has learned, but as I’ve figured out this year being a mom is HARD and it’s hard to prioritize time for yourself. The fact that I was able to sit down and write this post during some of his naps is definitely considered a WIN for me 🙂
