Lessons everyone should learn before turning 30

As you age, you will learn so many life lessons as the years go on. Here are the most important lessons everyone should learn before turning 30.

Money won’t buy you happiness

I know it seems like money is your answer. But trust me, it’s not. And if it is, it’s only temporary

What others think about you shouldn’t matter at all

The older you get, the less you will care about what others think of you. You are not living for them, you are living for yourself. The sooner you realize that, the happier you will be.

Family time should be prioritized

You never know what will happen. If you have a family, cherish every moment

Life will not always go according to plan

Don’t make too many plans. Learn to roll with the punches because your plans will always change

Learn to be more mindful about what you say and how you say it

You will have moments where you will regret every word you say. Take extra time to think about if it’s something you really want to say.. and then maybe think if there is a better way to say it

Quitting doesn’t make you a failure

I once saw something that said “too often quitting gets lumped into failure…failure is something you can’t control, while quitting means you are taking control of the situation”. I couldn’t agree more

Learn how to budget and save your money

It’s never too late to learn the basics of budgeting (they sure didn’t teach me that in high school, and I wish they would have offered a basic finance course). This will make your life so much easier

It doesn’t matter what college you go to or what your gpa was

Pass your tests and get your degree. Or if you don’t want a degree, get the certification. You don’t need to have a degree to be successful. Follow your dream, even if it doesn’t include a degree. The end goal is what matters.

Listen to your gut and follow your heart

Just because something seems scary doesn’t mean it isn’t the right answer. Follow your heart no matter how terrifying it may seem.

Do your best to minimize regret

Something my therapist tells me every session. Every step you take should work towards minimizing your regret in the future.

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

Prioritize it. Take care of it. Change it when it gets bad. IT IS IMPORTANT.

Always have goals to chase

Having something to work towards will make you happier and healthier. You will feel like you have a purpose. Even if it seems small, make goals for yourself that you are always working to reach.

Kindness matters

Learn to be kind at a young age. Being kind is the best thing you can ever do for someone

Vulnerability will heal you

It will invite people in and allow them to relate to you on a much deeper level. Be open to vulnerability.

Exercise is Power

Make it a priority. It will challenge you mentally, physically and emotionally.

Therapy is something you should never be afraid of

It’s something everyone should try at least once. You can always stop if you feel like it’s truly not benefitting you.
