Entering Your Gym Girl Era? Here’s What You Do/Don’t Need

Nowadays on social media, it’s easy to fall into the trap of convincing ourselves that if we don’t look like the influencers on TikTok, we aren’t doing it right. They have the nice clothes, an expensive at-home gym, and are truly living the life *we think* we want. Maybe you’re entering your gym girl era after seeing motivational videos on your phone screen. Before you go out and start spending a ton of money, let’s talk about what you do/don’t need in order to be successful.

Supplements

If you are getting everything you need out of your diet, you don’t need to add in extra supplements. Supplements are meant to ‘supplement’ any nutritional gap you may have in your diet. Most people do not need supplements if they are getting healthy proteins, vitamins and minerals from real food. But if you are struggling in that area, supplements can be beneficial to reach your goals. Eating real food throughout your day will provide you with all the building blocks you will need if you are trying to build muscle.

Don’t worry about adding trying the new latest protein that came out on the market. Try getting your protein from real foods. You don’t need supplements in order to be successful.

Expensive workout clothes

I truly believe that having a cute workout outfit does in fact give you more motivation to work hard in the gym. But I also believe that you don’t need to spend a ton of money to find cute workout clothes. I have spent the last year finding name brand dupes on Amazon that provide the same exact look for half the price. Of course, it can be nice to splurge on a piece of clothing you’ve been eyeing for a few months. But you don’t have to have name brand workout clothing to be in your gym girl era. You can find my favorite workout clothing on Amazon HERE

Expensive workout equipment

During Covid, I think it was easy for people to realize that you didn’t need top of the line fitness equipment to reach your fitness goals. When gyms were shut down, we were all forced to find alternative options for fitness and exercise. Three years later, although gyms are back open, it still holds true that you don’t need the most expensive gym membership or fancy gym equipment to reach your fitness goals.

A $200 walking pad can give you results just as much as a $1000 treadmill. You can also find indoor cycling bikes for less than $300 on Amazon. You don’t need expensive workout equipment to reach your fitness goals. With free fitness apps and youtube channels, you are bound to be successful with the endless affordable options that are out there.

So, What Do You Need?

Want to know what the number one tip is in order for you to be successful in your gym girl era?

You need to find a workout you’re obsessed with.

That’s It. That’s all you need. Once you find a workout you are obsessed with, your motivation to continue your fitness will stay consistent.

Whether you are obsessed with at-home workouts, HIIT classes, in-person boot-camps or simple incline walking, you need to find something that makes you happy. Your new Lululemon outfit isn’t going to get you to lose 10 pounds. And your new 10lb bag of protein created by your favorite influencer isn’t going to automatically give you muscles. You have to work towards the goals that you have for yourself. And the only way to do that is to find a workout you’re obsessed with.
