As I’ve gotten older (especially during the past year) I’ve come to realize how toxic social media really is. Sure, I would hear people say how toxic it was and how important it is to take a break, but it wasn’t until recently that I finally agreed. Social Media is filled with everything I’m not. It gives me the worst FOMO, and I find myself comparing myself to what I see on Social Media. But social media scrolling is a hard habit to break, because I do it when I’m bored. So here are some different activities to try during a social media detox.

If you’re wanting to take a social media detox, these are some great ideas for you to try
Even if you aren’t a very crafty person there are a ton of easy crafts you can try your hand at. And if you’re a mom, try to find on that your children would enjoy as well. This time of year seasonal craft ideas can easily be found all over Pinterest.
I’ll be the first to admit that reading a book isn’t my favorite thing to do. But when I find a good book, I can definitely stay hooked and spend a good time reading it. I recently got a Kindle that I am super excited to start using.
Self-care is a super important thing to prioritize because life gets crazy. Taking a bubble bath or doing a face mask during your self care night is a great change to spend some time away from social media
Jump in your car, grab an iced coffee and go for a drive to your favorite place. Obviously being on your phone is a big no no when it comes to driving, so use this chance to take a scenic route and blast your favorite music.
Organizing your home and taking the chance to de-clutter unnecessary items is a great way to spend your time if you are taking a social media detox. Organizing and throwing stuff away that you no longer need will also make you feel accomplished. Nothing makes me feel more organized than de-cluttering my things every few months!
Board games, puzzles or card games may seem overrated. But I promise once you jump back in to an ‘old School’ activity I bet you will find them way more fun than scrolling social media for hours.
If I could have any other job in the world, it would absolutely be owning my own bakery/cupcake shop. Baking is such a fun and easy activity that you can do at home. Especially this time of year, there are plenty of fall recipes you can try to re-create at home. You can check my Fall Treat ideas HERE.
Social Media isn’t always as bad as people make it out to be. I’ve learned a ton of life hacks off of Social Media, but I do find myself spending far too much time scrolling videos when I could be making better use of my time doing something else. If you haven’t taken a social media detox in awhile, I definitely recommend trying a few of these activities to see how refreshed you will feel.
