Bahamas Vacation Recap

When I started thinking about what I wanted for my 30th Birthday, I couldn’t think of any ‘big’ specific gift. Sure, turning 30 is a big deal, but I just couldn’t think if a ‘perfect’ birthday gift.

And then it came to me…. A vacation. But not just any vacation. I wanted to go on a vacation with my husband somewhere I’ve always wanted to go. I wanted to go somewhere warm, but somewhere a little more exciting than Florida. We had been to Hawaii on our honeymoon, and although I loved Hawaii, I wanted to try somewhere new and somewhere I’ve always wanted to go. The Bahamas.

After a lot of discussion and planning, we finally went on our Bahamas Vacation in the beginning of May. We stayed 5 nights/6 days which was the perfect amount. This vacation was filled with a perfect balance of rest and relaxation, along with adventure and new experiences.

This Vacation was a 10/10 for me. It had everything I wanted when it came to planning a tropical vacation, and I really enjoyed the alone time with my husband. It had been almost 6 years since my husband and I went to Hawaii on our honeymoon, so we were well overdue for a nice vacation. Needless to say, The Bahamas did not disappoint.

Bahamas Vacation Recap

Where We Stayed:  The Cove Atlantis

Although this was our first trip to the Bahamas, I don’t think there is a better place to stay than at Atlantis Paradise Island. This oceanside resort features 5 distinct hotels varying from family-friendly to luxury accomodations. This island provides you with what seems like never-ending activities for families and relaxing romantic activities for you and your partner. Hotel options include The Cove, The Royal, The Reef, The Coral, and Harborside Resort

I was really interested in more of a ‘luxury’ style vacation, therefore The Cove ended up being our pick.

The Cove is considered “luxury redefined”. Despite this hotel being the perfect getaway for couples, it is equipped to handle all the family fun that you may be looking for. With 600 rooms with furnished balconies placed between two elegant beaches, you might actually struggle to leave the luxury of your own suite. The Cove offers private beach access, with an adult only pool with outdoor dining and games.

Activities and Excursions

The Waterpark & Pools:

I could go on and on about the Adult Only pool at The Cove. Having the option to have access to a pool without children is a game changer on a vacation. This pool is filled with daybeds, private cabanas, and is just a few steps away from the beach. If you are an adult looking to relax and have drinks by the pool, The Cove Pool is the only way to go.

Aquaventure is Atlatis’s famous water park, and it definitely did not disappoint. Aquaventure is great for kids and adults, and you can easily spend your entire day racing down water slides or enjoying the rapid river. Although I did not attempt the 60 foot’ water slide going through a lagoon filled with fish, my husband did, and loved it.

Dining:

The dining and drinks at Atlantis Paradise Resort did not disappoint. It was encouraged to make reservations ahead of time, and I’m very happy we did. There is nothing worse than trying to decide on dinner plans at the last minute. The restaurants we chose were located all around the resort. Some were close enough to walk, while others we took a shuttle that lasted anywhere from 3-5 minutes.

My husband and I agreed that Fish by Jose Andres was the best meal of the entire trip. Although all of the food on the island was absolutely delicious, we both agreed that this restaurant took the trophy.  We also made reservations at Chop Stix, Carmines, Bimini Road, and Olives

Activities:

With all the activities provided at the resort, it can definitely be hard to narrow it down. My husband made my childhood dream come true by planning an excursion to swim with the dolphins. Although the price can seem a little steep, it was truly one of my favorite experiences.

We also chose to snorkel the ruins of Atlantis. We were able to swim alongside stingrays, sharks, and tropical fish. The Ruins Lagoon is filled with artifacts inspired by ancient Atlantis. Unfortunately with both of the excursions, we were not allowed to use a GoPro to capture any videos or pictures. Despite not having any photographs, these two experiences are some that I will never forget.

Overall, this vacation was well needed for my husband and I. It was such a great vacation and I definitely plan to go back.
