Welcome to beautified balance! My name is Kelsey. I’m 30 years old, a fur mom of 2, and a boy mom. I work as a therapist in a skilled nursing facility, and I truly have a passion for helping others. My parents instilled that in me for as long as I can remember. I have such a big heart and nothing makes me happier than making others feel loved. I’m an Enneagram Type 2, and nothing could describe me better.
I have always wanted to have a blog of all of my favorite things. And initially, that’s exactly what this blog started as when I was going through my postpartum journey. I used this as a place for me to express myself and to post about what was bringing me joy at that time in my life. I’ve always enjoyed writing and I have always been able to express myself so much better on paper.
As time went on, I began to use this page as more of an outlet for my quickly changing life. In 2017 my mother was diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s. A diagnosis we never saw coming.
Writing has been such an enjoyable hobby for me. Using writing as a tool has really helped me navigate the grief journey I’ve experienced in the last 8 years. Through my own words, I’ve used writing to process my complex emotions that came along with watching someone I love slowly change. This page that started with all of my postpartum thoughts and favorite things, slowly became a space is where I shared my reflections, challenges, and moments of growth, hoping to connect with others who may be walking a similar path. Writing about this experience has been both a source of solace and a way to honor my mother’s memory along with her journey through such a terrible disease.
My writings are filled with my thoughts, memories, and raw emotions that have helped me navigate such a life-changing journey. The lessons you learn from this diagnosis are profound, and although this disease may steal memories, it can never erase the impact of your shared experiences and the connections you continue to nurture.
When coming up with a name for my website, I wanted it to be something positive and something that truly describes me. After much thought, I came up with Beautified Balance.
“Past tense: to improve the appearance of”.
“An even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady”.
I have always been a strong believer that everything happens for a reason. I also believe that life is precious, and although some things are out of our control, it is our job to make our lives as beautiful and worth living as possible. No matter how hard or ugly life can get, I think it is important to see the positive in every day. And after going through the experience of losing my mom, I hope to use this page to encourage everyone that life is precious and time doesn’t slow down for anyone. It is our job to see the beauty in life every single day that we spend here on this earth. I hope to encourage everyone to beautify their life in any way that they can, no matter what struggles are hardships are thrown your way.
