9 Ways To Relax After A Long Day

Working a 9-5 can be so mentally, emotionally, and physically draining. And if you are someone who thrives in a routine, maybe you’re realizing you need to switch it up a bit. If you are feeling stressed after work, here are 9 Ways To Relax After A Long Day that maybe you haven’t tried yet.

Read a book

Reading is the perfect way to allow yourself to escape reality after work and dive into an entirely different world. Fiction, non-fiction, personal development, murder mystery, etc. There are endless options if you are looking for a good book to read. Here are the first books I downloaded after getting my Kindle.

Relax With A Weighted Blanket

Although I’ve never actually used a weighted blanket, I do have interest in them. From what I’ve read, weighted blankets have a ton of benefits. They help decrease anxiety, stress and provide better sleep, and can overall just make you feel more calm. This could be an easy solution after a stressful day at the office.

Listen To Music

I completely agree with the statement “music is healing”. I have playlists for every mood that I’m in. Music can cheer me up while also helping me get out a good cry.  Music is a great way to unwind after work. Combine it with a good bubble bath and you will feel a million times better.

Craft/color

Creativity-focused activities like these allow our brains release dopamine, which is our natural anti-depressant. Even if you don’t consider yourself the creative type, there are a ton of easy beginner crafts you can find on Pinterest. Adult coloring books are also a great option!

Turn off your phone

When you’re stressed, enjoying some tech-free time can be a great option. I know that’s easier said than done, especially at this day in age. But trust me. Turn your phone off for a couple hours and see how refreshed you feel.

Take a bubble bath

Bubble baths aren’t just allowed to happen at night. If you’ve had a stressful day at work, jump in a bubble bath right when you get home. Add in some essential oils or light your favorite candle. Taking 30 minutes in a relaxing bath can really help you body de-stress.

Journal

Write down your daily emotions and goals. Go in depth about what is stressing you out at that exact moment. This can help you destress problem solve and clarify your thoughts.

Take A walk

It’s no secret that exercise is the best way to improve your health. Running/walking can help decrease your anxiety and boost your mood. Even though you might be dreading it, I promise, give it a try and go on a walk and see how much more calm you feel.

De-clutter and organize your closet

I know cleaning your environment doesn’t sound like a super relaxing task. But cleaning and organizing your personal space can help you unwind while keeping you healthier and happier. There’s just something about throwing out my old clothes and organizing my pajama drawer that brings a feeling of relaxation and calmness.
