Meal Prep Must Haves

If you’re wanting to stay on track with your nutrition, prepping your meals for the week (or every few days) is KEY. Nutrition is the most important thing to prioritize when it comes to losing weight. It’s true when they say “you can’t outwork a bad diet”. I’m working on getting back into the meal prep game for this upcoming fall season. And after doing some research, here are some Meal Prep Must Haves.

***Disclaimer: Do you need any of these products to be successful? Absolutely not. But if you are looking for new meal prep items to help you on your journey, I hope these Meal Prep Must Haves may encourage you to get back on track with your nutrition***

Meal prep containers

There are a ton of meal prep containers on the market, so it’s up to your personal opinion on what you prefer. Glass? Plastic? Bento boxes? Whatever you like is the best option for you. I’ve listed some of my favorites below. Meal prep containers don’t have to be expensive, and you can find a ton of affordable options on Amazon or at Walmart. Of course glass containers will probably last you awhile longer. While plastic containers may need to be re-purchased every few months.

Stasher Bags

Stasher bags are a great option for fruits and vegetables. They don’t take up as much space in your fridge or lunchbox. These are also a great option if you are trying to eliminate waste. They are reusable, microwave and dishwasher safe. Stasher bags are a little more expensive, but if you are interested in splurging on good quality food storage items, I highly recommend these!

Vegetable chopper

I purchased a vegetable chopper on Amazon Prime Day and cant even begin to explain how much I love this device. I can’t believe it has taken me so long to order it. If you are short on time, this kitchen gadget will save your life! If you are anything like me, chopping fruits and vegetables can be super time consuming. This will save you so much time and energy (and is much safer if you’ve had too many close calls with a knife like me). This will cut your meal prep time in half.

Salad Containers

Although salads aren’t super difficult to meal prep, if you add a bunch of toppings into your salads, these containers are a great option. It helps prevent your lettuce from getting soggy and stores all of your toppings and dressings in a separate compartment. Some options even have a place for plastic utensil storage

Fruit and Vegetable Storage

A great time saving hack is to chop all fruits and vegetables at the beginning of the week. This not only saves you time but can encourage you to choose healthier options than grabbing chips from the pantry.

There are a ton of storage options on the market, so it’s definitely going to be some trial and error to figure out what works. SILIVO is another great option. Both are are affordable and have great reviews.

Lunch Box

Obviously with meal prep you need something to carry all of your prepped food. Of course there seems to be endless lunchbox options on Amazon, however these are my recommendations. BUILT is a great neoprene lunch bag that looks small, but can store a ton of food that you need to take to work with you.

If you are looking for something larger, Bentgo has a great insulated lunch bag option. It’s under $25.00 and can hold all of your meal prep containers. They come in a bunch of color options if you are looking for something a little more colorful than just black.

Bentgo Box

Bentgo boxes are a great meal prep container option because they are affordable and even come with a spot for the silverware. They are stackable and are the perfect storage in your lunchbox.
